The project director aspired to engage local churches to reach and disciple single adults in a manner relevant to their ministry setting. As single adult ministries have waned, few models exist to reach the population in an adaptable way with local church environments, and this project addressed that need. The project director researched the state of single's ministry in the United States. In this research the project director conducted two major approaches to study. Fastest growing churches in America and a sample of Southern Baptist Churches were contacted for survey. In response to this problem the researcher first investigated Scripture's mandate to the church regarding its treatment of single mothers and their sons, as well as the related issues of poverty, loneliness, and low status. The researcher then examined literature about the causes, challenges and possible resources of single mothering. These steps informed the subsequent qualitative research project that gathered data through personal interviews, field notes, surveys, and on-site group discussions with single Hmong mothers, lay leaders, community leaders, pastors, entrepreneurs, and educators. From this data a grounded theory on the subject of single Hmong mothers emerged. The research method employed a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis.  Volunteer readers submitted a pretest and a posttest utilizing a Likert scale format. They also wrote open-ended responses to seven evaluation questions. The quantitative analysis confirmed the thesis. This project afforded me a unique opportunity to examine FBC/SAM's process of getting things done, its context, ecology, theology, culture, resources, authority, and history, all of which forms the fabric for studying congregations. Twenty-five singles were surveyed to determine their attitudes before and after the project.  Leadership teams were selected based on several factors, then trained.  A large single adult conference was the focal point of the project.  The results of the study showed little affect on the singles' attitudes.
