The author examines the problems with clergy morale and pastoral identity, the Order of Elders in the United Methodist church, the Wesleyan theological background of gathering in groups, today's Internet culture, and the concepts of community and virtual community. Through pro-active research, the author created a clergy group meeting online, on a weekly basis, for study and mutual support. To better understand the interaction between churches, synagogues and the aging network, data were gathered from clergy and elderly in one community.  Of 48 churches, 34 (71 percent) clergy responded to face-to-face interviews.  16 Of 18 social service agencies also agreed to be interviewed. Of the many kinds of programs provided to the elderly by churches, visitation is the most common: all 34 visited congregants in hospitals and all but 2 of 34, when homebound.  Among social service agencies 6 of 16 provide direct visitation, meals or other services to the homebound. While concern for the homebound in this community is clear, even though a local coordinating counseling exists to coordinate services, we found no coordination of services between the churches and the agencies.
