This ministry project is based on the premise that most religious leaders generally use dated statistical materials, life changing stories, and personal experiences to raise awareness on the subject.The result of this ministry project (through personal interviews and questionnaires) discovered that religious leaders understand the Gift Exchange only in relation to the exchanging of personal gifts on special occasions and holidays.  Thus, the conclusion gathered from this ministry project suggests that the Theory of Gift Exchange is an excellent pastoral model to educate about organ donation and organ transplantation. The project reports on a pilot study in which seven congregations participated in an organ donation educational program.  The author developed the program and trained the pastors to teach the program in the seven congregations.  One hundred thirty participant questionnaires were returned.  Sixty-five percent of the respondents reported that they had talked with their families about organ donation.
