Nevertheless, Christian congregations and their ministers can, through courage and faith, overcome ungodly rationalizations for ungodly sexual beliefs and actions by setting out the godly tenets of sexual righteousness and supporting them with valid Biblical argument. Chapter one introduces the thesis while providing a methodology for implementation and application of Biblical truth related to sexual identity and practice. Chapter two chronicles the decline of sexual morality in western societies and identities the pattern of thought driving cultural change. Chapter three speaks to the evangelical missteps in addressing the sexual revolution and points toward a comprehensive plan of correction. Chapter four seeks to establish a systematic theology of sexual identity and practice while chapter five speaks to guidelines for preaching sensitive material within a congregational setting. This thesis seeks to address this reality. First, it listens to the witness of women and genderqueer people about their own complex bodies, identitites, and experiences, treating these as primary theological text. Second, it employs a matrix for theological reflection, engaging the positive, negative, creative, and transformative aspects of embodiment and sexuality in order to create a liberative, eschatological vision. Using the participant/observer approach, all participants kept daily journals, answered a questionnaire, and weekly meetings were taped. This project found individuals feeling closer to God, gender response differences, and occasionally, typical Appalachian responses. This project focused on gender relations among clergy full members of the Kansas West Conference of the United Methodist Church. Using theology and the cognitive mode from psychology, the author looked at intermediate and core beliefs and automatic thoughts of clergy toward each other. The elements were analyzed through a focus group, a general survey, and directed reading. By integrating feminism, object relations theory, and theology a theory is created which evaluates the meaning of females' traditional Christian faith as that affects psychological development. A parallel is drawn between cultural gender definitions and male god representation functions.  The integrated theory is applied to a case study which analyzes the intrapsychic, religious, and identity revelations of a female client who addresses the meaning of her god image during three years of
