Still, the current congregation shows no signs of giving up our corporate goal to be 'A House of Prayer to All Nations.' This portfolio reflects my evolution as pastor of this vital community and the church itself, especially during my time at Tyndale. As challenging as the ministry is in general, it takes on another dimension of difficulty when the congregation to whom we minister is gone. The question that loomed large over my pastorate was how I could continue ministering to people in such an event. COVID-19 left us searching for alternate ways to minister to congregational needs despite restrictions on interpersonal contact. We partly addressed this ministry through online services, but many members could not avail themselves of this resource, being unable to access computers or the internet. Government-enforced church closures complicated the issue, as did some individuals fearing the risk of exposure by physically attending the church when open. The threefold foci of this research concentrated on how best to preach to an absent congregation, encourage them in prayer, and maintain a sense of communal fellowship despite enforced separation. The research project documents how we addressed these problems through regular telephone and mail contact to alleviate the isolation members experienced. This outreach included the distribution of printed sermons and prayer requests. We reassured members they were loved and cared for while reminding them of the congregational unity and community of those sharing their struggles. The project had some success, constrained mainly by its eight-week duration. However, we learned valuable lessons and continue using the process we developed, ensuring regular contact without overlooking any of our members.
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Tyndale University
602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
work_editor","public
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
c9b954cd-e6cf-440a-917b-19049c1797c3
9d67d463-d736-4659-9ba4-2e0709fe8c5c
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
Equipping Selected Members of Immanuel Baptist Church, Greenwood, Mississippi, with Conversational Evangelism Skills
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
f611606e-3759-4f23-86b5-39d13b3df62e
4cc23d4c-fd7b-4b18-bc26-93003d7a9cb2
1
1
Atla RIM
Doctor of Ministry
New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary
Jeff Farmer Ph.D.
2022
Mississippi
D.Min. Systems theory, which embraces a theory of process, is outlined in Chapter II. Tri-Modal Structuring, with its three modes of interaction, is described in Chapter III. I have attempted to take that which I have encountered and in a brief and simple way, state the coherent principles which become my guide in the maze of interpersonal interaction.
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Western Theological Seminary
c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
work_editor","public
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
423da692-2253-41d3-9506-b4f5ad3041c4
94540332-58b2-46f9-b048-37027f76b3c3
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
A Christian response to religious violence : a curriculum addressing non-retaliation and peace in northern Nigeria
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
c358b43c-491b-46b5-a347-06c4547b867f
fea92186-f929-4f89-848f-576aa1d16ebf
1
1
Atla RIM
Doctor of Ministry
Western Theological Seminary
2008
Nigeria
D.Min. Jesus' point of emphasis in his teaching is that his followers should avoid violence, whether capital punishment or engaging in destructive war in his name. Jesus taught his followers this new approach because he knew that those who were committed to following him would surely have enemies who would physically attack them. He knew that as humans we are bound to react to our enemies in the form of anger, sorrow, or defensiveness. Graduates of Pastors' School, Jos, and their congregations will have a mandate to apply Jesus' teaching on peace and forgiveness in their relationship with Muslims in northern Nigeria. This curriculum will address four basic areas of concern within four semesters. Each basic area of study in a semester will provide description, purpose or goal, objectives, requirements and procedures.
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
https://repository.westernsem.edu/xmlui/handle/1866/1629
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Western Theological Seminary
c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
work_editor","public
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
5cee12de-65fa-4ff8-be00-0de7ea6213b1
7c9a9b05-5b4b-4e62-b411-24fd466eb412
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
Faithful conversations : same-sex relationships and the Christian faith
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
d1d6d9de-546c-4544-8099-76192659588e
bec6ba26-61bc-4c91-ae92-29911691d42d
1
1
Atla RIM
Doctor of Ministry
Western Theological Seminary
George R. In contrast, this project explores how a local congregation can grow in unity, purity, and peace while holding a variety of viewpoints on same-sex marriage. The project consisted of a congregation-wide event called Faithful Conversations: Same-Sex Relationships and the Christian Faith. First, the pastors complexified the conversation around same-sex marriage and the Christian faith beyond for and against by presenting five faithful Christian responses to same-sex marriage. Second, a licensed therapist facilitated a panel discussion where people holding different perspectives on same-sex marriage shared their stories, values, and viewpoints. Third, the facilitator invited the congregation to interact with panel members using an adaptation of the Restorative Circles process for people experiencing conflict. Data from the project reveal that this congregation defied the pattern of division over same-sex marriage. In fact, the congregation grew in authenticity of relationships, mutual understanding, and theological insight. Based on the results of this project, the researcher developed a model called Faithful Conversations: Same-Sex Relationships and the Christian Faith for use in other congregations.
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
https://repository.westernsem.edu/xmlui/handle/1866/1982
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Western Theological Seminary
c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
public","work_editor
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
a7e8dcd2-f4a4-4531-bb74-434f721b9db6
81cf3caa-52e1-49a1-b489-dfc3b2d5298b
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
Developing Holistic Health in Pastors and Christian Leaders through a Supervised Peer Support Network
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
4bc0adcb-ccf9-41d4-9368-f4302bf0541a
b1e3c8cb-dfc9-4647-819b-e5fb719c7ea9
1
1
Atla RIM
Doctor of Ministry
Gateway Seminary
Mark Bradley Ph.D.","Glenn Prescott Ph.D.
2021
North America
D.Min.
