The Bible uses many different motivations that at first glance may not feel Christ-centered to some. Some pastors ignore or even vilify motives such as the promise of rewards or the threat of consequences in the name of remaining Christ-centered. Rewards were identified in three categories, i.e. Financial and Material, Status and Relationships and Spiritual.  The study method was in three parts.  The first was an analysis of ordinary and biblical usage of the word 'reward.'  the second was a questionnaire survey of all parish ministers in Baltimore Annual Conference.  The third was a series of three dialogue groups held among parish ministers in Baltimore Annual Conference.
