A survey of women students and alumnae of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary was taken to determine how they experience their call to and preparation for ministry.  Results are combined with a review of the history of women students at Gordon-Conwell from 1970 to 1990. Formational needs and issues for women are studied. Using data collected from interviews with female seminarians along with questionnaires to, and interviews with, ordained United Church of Christ women, the paper describes their expectations, experiences and coping skills.  A 'Survival guide' using these insights is then offered as a resource for clergywomen.
