These ideas are blended into a theory of multigenerational spiritual/emotional process designed to help a meeting identify its destructive forces and helpful resources. A Friends meeting was taught a course related to the above ideas and partially applied them for six months. A verifying survey was also sent to sixty-one Friends leaders."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["795851c5-e081-4353-9c00-2c554dd1d015"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135168348553216,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:46:47.266Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:14:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:51:03Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d37fa50f-9221-4e7d-9d62-a6cbd7d7cb1c","accessControl_ssim":["39b2f89e-b056-4ca3-abd0-38e30292193c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The effects of required community service on the development of self-esteem, personal and social responsibility of high school students"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:14:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:45:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["728d08f9-0a2d-45ff-87a2-1fea10e25632"],"hasLease_ssim":["a0d5e5d8-ad84-4c09-9e15-f684f946753e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"additional_rights_info_tesim":["Donald Freeman"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1989"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The students in this study showed a significant increase in social and personal responsibility. Self-esteem did not change significantly. Three members of the Rochester Friends Meeting were interviewed twice: once in 1979 and again in 1981. The open-ended interviews were designed to provide sufficient information to locate the individuals in their respective faith stages. In addition, the history of New York Yearly Meeting was examined in the context of Fowler's stages to establish the modal context of the Society. The modal context of the Yearly Meeting was seen as Stage 4, with individuals interviewed spread in Stages 3, 4, and 5. The individual in Stage 3 was the birthright member of the Society, while the other two joined as adults. Although conclusions cannot be drawn on such a small study, it is speculated that the structures of the Society do not impel a person's development beyond Stage 3. Apparently, other life events must provide the stimulus for development. The mode of Stage 4 for New York Yearly Meeting seems largely to result from the preponderence of adult members who have joined the Society rather than being built into faith-nurturing structures."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717521955225600,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:19:37.475Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
