Developing tools and training to help equip wives to be healthier spiritually and emotionally can have potential long-lasting results for the wife herself and her husband, family, ministry, church, community, and world. Equipping pastors’ wives through training in biblical counseling will help pastors’ wives grow spiritually and develop the competence and tools to nurture others spiritually.The purpose of this project was to develop a strategy and framework outline for equipping that can help a pastor’s wife grow in her faith and learn how to give biblical counsel to others, which, in turn, can help others grow in their faith. This growth can have a Kingdom impact, resulting in the multiplication of disciples and disciple-makers and development of spiritual maturity. However, very little research has been done on how these experiences impact the spouse. The focus of this research project is on the impact on the pastor's wife. This dissertation examines five case studies of wives of wounded pastors whose husbands have experienced conflict at their church resulting in them leaving their church. I have provided a narrative of each wife's situation as told by the wife. The narratives provide the context and thus provide clearer insights into the impact of their experiences.     To help us understand the impact, we examined the challenges pastors and wives face while in the ministry context as compared to after they were forced to leave. The pastor's wife's voice has been a missing piece in our strategies in preparing pastors for ministry. This project distills her insights, along with those of pastors and church leaders and gives us a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges pastors and their wives face.     This study includes tangible strategies to better equip pastors and their spouses to deal with the challenges of ministry. It provides information that can be used to develop ministries that support and encourage pastors and their wives when they encounter conflicts, are wounded and forced to exit from their church. Over a hundred church planter wives from a variety of denominations voluntarily completed a survey about their ministry contributions and six key factors. The survey exposed how the wife of the church planter is considerably involved with her husband's mission to start a new church, and her ministry contributions were especially influenced by her sense of God's calling and her employment status. The study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with three pastors in the Presbyterian Church in America and their wives, who were interviewed separately and as couples. The review of biblical literature and literature in conflict resolution, marriage, and systems theory, along with analysis of the conducted interviews focused on how healthy marriages can grow through times of conflict in the church.
