Mentoring, or life-into-life ministry, is the most intense form of community and therefore holds potential to stimulate the most intense spirituality. In a survey of current literature, this study noted the dramatic explosion of mentoring into the everyday life of our culture. The current relevance and effectiveness of the biblical, historical, and current insights on mentoring were tested among seminary students and women's lay ministries and a paradigm for mentoring was constructed from the results. The overall conclusion was that mentoring is a concept whose time has come and needs to be embraced, especially by the Reformed faith group."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715085454671872,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:40:53.847Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:49:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f66cb86e-5929-47d4-9161-115cc1707ae3","accessControl_ssim":["e9cac1bf-6592-4308-97ab-4a4c85f21296"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Narrative process in interfaith dialogue among undergraduate students"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:10:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e45efede-c933-4b99-9946-89b73dd383c5"],"hasLease_ssim":["d15c93ca-a9f5-4451-857a-d0906690e88b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Susan L Nelson","Charles L Kammer"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Linda J Morgan-Clement"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Students","Christianity and other religions","Narrative theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This abstract explores the role of narrative process in interfaith dialogue among undergraduate students. The author used narrative process to design and teach a course on interfaith dialogue. Narrative process helped students enter a dialogue that moved beyond the theoretical, to include the experience of 'lived' faith. The author's journal, students' responses to surveys, and a comparison of writing samples led the author to conclude that narrative process is very effective in creating dialogue that deepens personal commitment, encourages self-reflection, and creates the spaces for respectful exchange of differing religious beliefs and worldviews."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127762946228224,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:49:04.924Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:04:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:57:36Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"248d87bb-3466-4227-8632-2da30a449a83","accessControl_ssim":["17b6c37a-0b8d-40cb-93dd-4937962c8563"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A strategy to reach West Chester University students through the ministry of West Chester Community Fellowship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:04:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:12:42Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d502c626-5d3a-42da-847e-875f31bf8b2e"],"hasLease_ssim":["ee30f9fe-201b-4f47-9875-ede94b415d39"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bill Day"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Donald T Satterwhite"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with students","Non-church-affiliated people","Students"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of the project was to plan a strategy to reach West Chester University students through the ministry of West Chester Community Fellowship. Significant changes were seen in gender preference, forgiveness, decision-making, liking self, and parental relationships."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129744132014080,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:20:34.330Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:39:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:46:46Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"38f828e5-849e-4bda-b7b0-f526c6a9e405","accessControl_ssim":["42f5b40b-906f-4a01-bbc6-997523172416"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing strong marriages among Christian college students"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:39:28Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:46:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["df03ae18-4b79-4a48-8e01-5a5cdc10b46f"],"hasLease_ssim":["9abf2967-f462-4510-88d0-c68c804b8a77"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Bethel Seminary (St. Paul, MN)"],"advisor_tesim":["Gary V Smith"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gary L Pickens"],"publisher_tesim":["Bethel Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Students","Families--Religious life","Education","Marriage--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The pressures of family, college and work can be stressful to the student marriage. The author investigated the developmental theories of Erikson, Kohlberg, Gilligan, Fowler, Perry, and Parks. The theological/biblical background focused on biblical stories, incarnational presence, personal narrative, human sexuality, prayer, creation-centered spirituality, and process, liberation, and feminist theologies. As models of spiritual direction the author incorporated the work of Ignatius Loyola, Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Studzinski, Gratton, Fischer, and Kelsey. Models of psychotherapy and pastoral counseling included Jung, Rogers, Oden, and Jackson. The integrated model consists of characteristics and role of a guide, and subject matter of guide/seeker meeting."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130686192615424,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:35:32.749Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:08:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:48:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5c2efd6d-62eb-422a-97f1-c1b4c5118c2f","accessControl_ssim":["e5a7fa6b-817e-4392-a629-4f443b15b981"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Peer mediation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:08:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:50:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["acb131d1-1516-4244-ab91-ace4a9b2c85d"],"hasLease_ssim":["01e69c6e-9fee-4e51-9de0-988479d4b664"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Concordia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Roger Pitellko"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Larry F Hendricks"],"publisher_tesim":["Concordia Theological Seminary (IN)"],"subject_tesim":["Students","Group relations training","Conflict management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper shows a new way to train students to solve problems in conflict resolution. It proposes that students use peer mediation in a Scriptural based program. The project uses previous evaluations of peer mediation programs and results of a questionnaire sent to all Lutheran High Schools in the United States. The research shows a need for scriptural based peer mediation. This includes a peer mediation workbook with sample forms and letters. In response the paper espouses ways to implement a successful peer mediation program.
