A number of at-risk youth were used for this project.  The research was done through qualitative studies, evaluations, counseling, spiritual training, and mentoring by parents, teachers, counselors and church leaders. Given partnerships between churches and communities seldom exist; Ivanhoe implemented a teaching/learning context in partnership with other institutions to equip youth to deal with social, economic and spiritual challenges threatening their well-being and productivity. A qualitative approach using participatory observation, surveys, journaling, and spiritual formation lessons and activities was utilized. The hypothesis states that spiritually empowered youth internalize God's love and develop spiritual discipline and self-control needed to transcend and transform racial, social, and economic constraints. Three years later, she was pregnant at age nineteen in her first year at the University of Toronto.  This thesis addresses the issue of premarital sex among teenagers in North America.  It will research theological resources in the Bible concerning premarital sex.  It will provide a comparison of cultural and social analyses.  The thesis will discuss the theological and ethical concerns in the debate on premarital intercourse for teenagers.  Problems of premarital sex remain in our changing society, such as pregnancy, venereal diseases (VD) and sexually transmitted diseases (STD), and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Although young people have knowledge of contraception and protection against diseases acquired during sexual intercourse, they still need to be concerned about sexual morality in our society.  The thesis will imphasize Christian education as a strategy of intervention including physical and medical intervention, and theological and ethical intervention to help teenagers who are involved in premarital sex. Using quasi-experimental design, 42 high school aged participants formed control and treatment groups. The treatment group participated in a six-week education study on the Bible's teaching on sexuality. Peer leaders were included. Biblical knowledge and sexually permissive attitudes were measured before and after the treatment. Quantitative analysis revealed significant increase in biblical knowledge yet no significant decrease in sexually permissive attitudes. The course of instruction was developed on the basis of interviews with nine church leaders and the administration of a questionnaire to 120 randomly chosen young Egyptian Christians.
