The study provides an opportunity to the Church, mission committees, and agencies to listen to and learn from the story of a team as it works with Scripture and available literature on dependency and interdependency in their efforts to live and work among the poor. This study is part of their journey. She provides a history and evaluation of the TEXT-Africa series of books and a summary of current African development in politics, economics, education, and theology.  A replication of research done in 1980 summarizes life needs of church members, and  fresh research provides information on training needs of church leaders.  The author determines seven further texts needed at the functional literacy level, as well as materials at the pre-literacy, secondary, and university level.
