This project investigates the question and attempts to apply some answers. Specific objectives are (1) to relate what the traditional worldview is, (2) to learn, by means of a polled sample, what some present-day Zulus say about their beliefs and (3) to suggest missionary methods that will communicate the gospel within the current Zulu frame of reference. Historical beliefs are enumerated and seen to form a cohesive pattern of thought. A questionnaire shows what Zulus say on such subjects as cosmogony, cosmology, traditional medicine, taboos, Christian doctrine and Zulu religion. Attention is given to the implications of the Zulu worldview for missions. Finally, suggestions are made for relating the gospel to the fundamental beliefs of the Zulu worldview."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721820507602944,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:27:56.894Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:04:10Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:18:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"eeba3ada-dd59-4762-b360-b8a74d32f9d8","accessControl_ssim":["0544812f-2b46-46ad-abe9-a88cc3fa7762"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Towards an authentic Anglican and African liturgy in Nigeria: an experimental eucharistic liturgy"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:04:09Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:57:00Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ef30538c-0df9-4fc1-9372-dc660eef2a6e"],"hasLease_ssim":["1c84baa6-3cb3-4b2b-b9f2-379bc458839b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["J Akinyele Omoyajowo"],"year_tesim":["1984"],"location_tesim":["Africa","Nigeria"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Solomon Olaniyi Amusan"],"keyword_tesim":["Indigenization of worship"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Missions","Liturgics","Anglican Communion","Church history"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Christianity was brought into Nigeria by the Church Missionary Society of England among other denominations in the nineteenth century. The findings of this study are based on library research, listening and 20 years of the researcher's pastoral experience. The study concludes that marriage is a this-world human institution planned by God (Gen 2:18, Matt 22:30). It was planned for alleviation of loneliness, a fulfilling sexual intercourse, procreation, economic support and mutual responsibility for God's creation. Although monogamy is portrayed as the ideal, polygamy is validated as marriage.
