This goal was achieved by an extensive review of literature on the cultural-religious development of attitudes toward illness and death, Arab life, relevant Islamic theology and the nature and theology of pastoral care to non-Christian migrants.  The author spent a month in the Middle East interviewing Muslims and Christians involved with the dying and related areas. The guidelines were field tested with responses.
