This study is composed of a qualitative design using a semi-structured approach to interview six experienced Chinese pastors. This study concludes that sound hermeneutics leads to sound homiletics. Spiritual formation consists of stringent spiritual disciplines and a required development of godly character within preachers. In addition, the author developed a questionnaire which was completed by 150 ministers, who served in Chinese house churches. The author also conducted in-dept interviews with 3 senior theological educators to have them share their teaching expectations on theological education.
