Then, he researched existing discipleship methods to determine best practices and used a variety of strategic planning models to develop a discipleship strategy for Pine Terrace Baptist Church. Building on the premise that a good preacher is one who is not only competent in the skills needed for good preaching, but is also a person who authentically lives in a way that gives witness to the Gospel preached, the author searches for how these preachers can be formed for our age. Chapter One explores the intrinsic connection between God’s Word and God’s deeds as the pattern for authentic preaching. The investigation asks whether good seminary formation contributes to the formation of good preachers.Chapter Two highlights the vision of St. Dominic and introduces the idea of the preacher’s formation using the work of Humbert of Romans. Noting similar patterns in St. Charles Borromeo and St. Vincent de Paul, this chapter leads into the reforms called for from Vatican II until the present. The Church’s formation documents become the foundation for generating an extensive list of specific formation elements identified for development in a candidate during seminary formation. Chapter Three builds various assessments tools used in the pastoral appropriation, seeking to identify and highlight important formation elements from the four dimensions of priestly formation that contribute to the formation of good preachers.Chapter Four extensively explores the qualitative and quantitative results, highlighting the significant correlation between the integration of leading elements of priestly formation and improved preaching quality. An expert evaluator in the field of personal evangelism evaluated both the annotate bibliography and the essential personal evangelism skills report. The next phase of the project involved developing a curriculum to equip selected adults with personal evangelism skills. The project director investigated the curriculum writing process by c0ompleteing the self-guided study, Design for Teaching and training by Leroy Ford. The project director wrote the curriculum after completing the study. An expert evaluator in the field of curriculum writing evaluated both of these steps. The project director then trained the selected adults using the equipping model. The end result was a group of selected adults who now better understand the essentials of invitation counseling and who can implement them into invitation counseling situations in the future. The project director explored the field of church revitalization in order to determine best-practices. The project director researched the literature and practices of both the Southern Baptist Convention and other denominations to gather information and strategies of revitalization of the church. He then investigated the internal and external demographics of Bethel Baptist Church, Trenton, Florida. The project director selected church members to serve on a church revitalization strategy development team. He chose members who were involved in a wide range of ministries in Bethel Baptist Church. He trained the members of the strategy development team and led them through a chosen strategy development process to create a step-by-step church revitalization strategy. First Baptist Church of Minneoloa is a sixty-year-old church that grew in membership during the late nineteen seventies into the nineteen nineties. After that period of growth, the church began to lose members. Through research and communication with a select group of church members, a four=part strategy proposal was created and presented to the church. The strategy focused on the church becoming more invitational, improving a guest’s first visit, changing stereotypical perceptions and perspectives, and hearing the concerns of millennial families. In the third phase of the project, the project director led a select team of worship ministry leaders to develop a worship revitalization strategy for Stetson Baptist Church. In the final phase of the project, the project director presented the strategy to the Church Council and Pastoral Staff of Stetson Baptist Church for approval.
