This will be explored through three avenues. The first is a spiritual autobiography describing the author’s own spiritual formation in response to the question: How will I know God’s voice? The author’s discernment of vocational call to spiritual direction and supervision will be shared. The second is through the development of a Trinitarian Spiritual Formation Model as informed by Trinitarian Spiritual Formation anchored in trinitarian theology. In the face of hybrid forms of spiritual direction, this understanding of spiritual formation will be applied to the question: What makes spiritual direction, spiritual direction? The third is through a field research project that attends to the spiritual formation of Tyndale graduate spiritual directors. The project is guided by the question: Does attending to the spiritual formation of directors through a contemplative evocative approach better equip them to discern a calling to the supervision of directors? The overall ministry philosophy and methodology of Lloyd-Jones have been considered along with his value for biblical authority, expository preaching, and biblical marriage. This purpose was accomplished through qualitative research using content analysis on primary and secondary sources by and about Martyn Lloyd-Jones to understand what he believed about Christian preaching and ministry and to know how he applied that understanding personally and in the pulpit.The research design for this study followed a qualitative approach to studying data. The study also implemented content analysis when examining individual sermons Lloyd-Jones preached from Ephesians 5:22-33 contained in Christian Marriage: From Basic Principles to Transformed Relationships. These sermons were evaluated according to the functional elements of explanation, illustration, and application to derive implications for pastors today. The research is developed into three parts. First, in chapters 1-2, the thesis and life of Lloyd-Jones is described. Second, in chapters 3-4, his value for biblical expository preaching is established. Third, chapters 5-6 set forth the evaluating methodology for the eleven sermons. A total of 15 of Darby’s sermons were reviewed within the context of five eschatological themes: (1) the ruin and apostasy of the church, (2) a call to separation and holiness, (3) the blessed hope – Christ’s soon return, (4) the coming eschatological judgment, (5) the church as the bride of Christ. The purpose of this qualitative research study was to explore how converted British Asian Christians evaluate the role of the local church in its witness to the British Asian community. The purpose of this study is to reintroduce the figure of John Berridge to a contemporary readership. Second it will argue that it is John Berridge's appropriation of the post-Reformational experiential tradition with its re-discovery of justification by faith that is foundational to his conversion, surrounds his experience in the Cambridgeshire Revival, and sustains his ministry in Everton. Biblical training, fostering understanding, and preparing mature believers as mentors would motivate, raise, and sharpen the ability to ground new believers in the faith. Specifically, this is a study of a religious congregation called the Congregation of Marians, with an emphasis on its missionary endeavor in three different countries.  The Marians began as a religious organization in Poland, but over the years started an outreach into countries around the world.  This paper reports the research accomplished by this Marian missionary endeavor, limiting itself to the Marian establishments in the US, Great Britain and Brazil.  The research shows that the Marians are very successful in their Brazilian missions.  In Great Britain the Marians are less successful.  This paper presents reasons for the very different end results in both countries. In Great Britain the Marians reached out to Polish immigrants, and were successful initially in this ministry.  But, since the Marians did not expand their ministries to the larger population, they faced a decreasing ministerial need.  In Brazil, the Marians reached out to the larger population and thrived.  The ultimate goal of this paper was to view Marian cross-cultural outreach.  The Marian effort in the US is viewed in comparison to the two countries just mentioned.  The core research included questionnaires and focus groups in all three countries. Traditional and defensive church models have failed, with the result that religion is privatized and domesticated, and most people are nominal or notional Christians.  An examination of 'modern' Western culture and 'post-modernity' follows the work of Lesslie Newbigin and the Gospel and Culture Networks.  The missionary congregation is found to be a viable model for multicultural churches.
