Utilizing the quipping model to educate and empower adults to share the gospel, the project director selected a group of married couples from FBL based on their interest and involvement in evangelism training. Group members participated in a free personality self-assessment that guided their training. After conducting research in the field of evangelism, the project director developed teaching plans that he implemented through sessions designed to equip adults to share the gospel based upon their personality strengths. To accomplish the stated project, the project director identified three main goals. Each goal is further divided into phases to reach the stated goal. THe first phase for goal one consisted of research to identify essential discipleship skills and the best practices for connecting and communicating with pre-teens and early teens. The second phase of the first goal was to conduct a survey of the selected leaders to determine self-perceived strengths and weaknesses of the selected leaders in regarding their discipleship skills. The second goal was to develop curriculum for use in equipping selected leaders with essential discipleship skills. The first phase of this second goal was the completion of LeRoy Ford's Design for Teaching and Training. The second phase was to create a curriculum for equipping of essential discipleship skills. The final goal was equipping leaders with discipleship skills. The project director procured the help of experts in Discovery Bible Study methodology and curriculum development to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of this project. A demographics study of East Carroll Parish, Louisiana, provided evidence of rural depopulation around Lake Providence. Research into strategy models of healthy churches determined a list of best practices of those models. With the help of a strategy development team, a church health strategy that addresses the realities of rural depopulation was developed and presented to First Baptist Church, Lake Providence, Louisiana, for approval. The project's evaluation methods included expert evaluators for the demographic study, the best practices of church health, and the church health strategy presented. Additionally, the strategy development team provided an evaluation of the strategy development process. Young people in the world and in the Church are full of potential, and it is incumbent upon preachers to harness that potential through their preaching. Unfortunately, many adolescents find contemporary sermons laborious and irrelevant. Young people are in a constant state of flux due to the physiological, neurological, psychological, and spiritual changes taking place in adolescence. Those in the thick of this period of tumultuous development desire, and deserve, to be heard by their parents, their teachers, and especially their priests or ministers—and to receive engaging, pertinent homilies. This thesis aims to equip preachers with five principles of preaching for adolescents: Authenticity, Directness, Engagement, Relevance, and Relationality. These principles are based on the current scientific research of adolescent brain development, psychosocial theories, and spiritual development as well as the responses of actual adolescents who participated in eight Adolescent Focus Group Interviews concerning their real-life experiences of preaching. To test the effectiveness of these five principles of preaching, four priests engaged in a process of self-reflection and homily evaluation. They responded to a self-inventory on their understanding of preaching for adolescents, and they also preached homilies which were evaluated by adolescents. In addition to the self-inventories and homily evaluations, the priests attended three workshops on those five principles of preaching for adolescents. The results of the priests’ self-inventories and the adolescent homily evaluations demonstrated that the adolescent evaluators responded positively to the priests’ implementation of Authenticity, Directness, Engagement, Relevance, and Relationality.
