The project director researched discipleship methods, aspects, formation, and models. Following the research, the compiled an annotated bibliography of selected discipleship models and then conducted an appraisement of selected discipleship models. From there, the project director surveyed the congregation and reviewed the existing discipleship making methods. The results of these inquires provided the project director with the needed information to develop reports on current practice and spiritual health. To fashion his learning into an enhanced strategy, he did research into strategy creation process from which he developed a report. The fruit of all the research was used to develop an enhanced strategy. A select team was then gathered to assist in the manufacture of a presentation. The team delivered the presentation to the pastors and elders. The pastors and elders asked for application details. Once provided, the strategy was accepted. These spiritual practices are essential to nurturing the strength and vision necessary to create a more just, equitable, and sustainable world. This project offers a model for integrating these practices into the regular activities of youth ministry as a way of reconnecting them to the struggle for justice. It was tested by adding the observance of the daily offices of prayer to a youth mission trip and examining the views of participants concerning prayer and its connection to justice before, during, and after the trip. Noticeable changes were measured during and after the trip, indicating that youth came to see spiritual practices are more important to the work of justice. To do so, it uses two layers of research strategies: (1) at the national level, a qualitative analysis of two national reports and generalizations made about the American Church and culture and (2) at the regional level, an anonymous survey of individuals and participation in both a nondenominational church plant and an established mainstream congregation. This thesis project challenges the argument that the American Church is in decline and proposes a strategy by which new and established congregations can successfully take part in the reformed American Church that is emerging."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132774849052672,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:08:44.647Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:46:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:02:36Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4072ba3f-eb64-4a48-bbf8-78faf38c2513","accessControl_ssim":["0c34b902-fc03-4f45-bc5a-1a9058ea0c69"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Take the risk: a non-traditional/nightclub ministry evangelizes and witnesses to a generation of the unchurched"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:46:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:00:13Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5f0cd62d-fa12-4401-bc9b-fb6a4b39a678"],"hasLease_ssim":["01c9c249-90b3-4a62-b933-73122b294a11"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Fred D Smith"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"location_tesim":["Maryland"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
