To accomplish this goal, I collected information about the membership and involvement level of new church members including LifeGroup attendance, DGroup attendance, involvement in serving, and a general survey of their familiarity with each of these as well as the church's core doctrinal beliefs. I selected three churches that assimilate new members well and researched their processes. I also created an annotated bibliography of relevant resources to guide this project. From the research, I identified and organized best practices. I also developed a strategic planning team to assist in discerning weaknesses in the church’s current process and needed improvements based on the research from other churches. The strategic planning team identified areas for improvement and created an assimilation strategy. North Oxford Baptist Church employed only a modest  approach to guest impressions, intentional guest hospitality, and guest follow-up prior to the project. As such, a more robust guest care ministry that both enhanced the hospitality environment and encouraged guests to take next assimilation steps toward becoming contributing members of the church was necessary. The project director accomplished three primary goals. The first goal was to research the fields of assimilation and hospitality to identify best practices and essential competencies of guest care ministries. Among these researching findings, the project highlighted skills in the areas of parking lot impressions, welcome center and worship center practices, and follow up strategies. The second goal was to design a curriculum that equipped selected team leaders in these identified best practices and essential competencies of guest care ministry. The final goal was to then equip those selected team leaders with the best practices and essential competencies of guest care ministry.
