I accomplished three ministry  goals in this project. First, I researched the field of multiethnic ministry to identify the essential skills required for local churches. Then, I developed a workshop to equip selected Jackson County Baptist Association leaders with essential skills for multiethnic ministry in the local church. Finally, the workshop was given to equip selected Jackson County Baptist Association leaders with essential skills for multiethnic ministry in the local church.\r\n\r\nI also accomplished two professional goals in this project. The first goal was to \r\nincrease my knowledge of multiethnic ministry in the local church. Additionally, I desired to improve my workshop development skills. Using the ministry research model, I researched church dynamics in Mississippi to identify regional church profiles. In this research, I included data from Annual Church Profiles from Southern Baptist churches in Mississippi, along with data from recent census reports, to identify population and demographic trends across the state. The synthesis of this data identified five regional church profiles in various parts of the state. Secondly, I researched contemporary church revitalization models and current state convention strategies to identify best practices. Lastly, I developed a strategy planning guide for the Mississippi Baptist Convention. I sought to fulfill three goals in this project: first, to research the field of palliative care, with a focus upon the incarcerated; second, to develop a curriculum to equip students in palliative care skills among the incarcerated; and third, to equip upperclassmen Leavell college students with palliative care skills among the incarcerated through teaching sessions.\r\n\r\nThe methodology for implementing the project included lectures, PowerPoint \r\npresentations, group discussions of skills, role-plays, and field practicum work. \r\nDiscussion scenarios stemmed from the Louisiana State Penitentiary’s hospice program, the Mississippi State Penitentiary’s palliative care unit, and Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I presented the material in six, sixty-minute sessions. The sessions aimed to instruct in three domains of learning: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. I administered pretests and posttests to evaluate student learning. I researched and identified key leadership-coaching competencies from various organizations that could be used to equip the staff. Relevant competencies were then selected based on research, staff surveys, and contextual needs. Training modules were created using the selected competencies. Finally, I equipped pastors and staff, utilizing the developed training modules, with methods that allowed them to develop and practice \r\nleadership-coaching competencies. There were three project goals and two professional goals. The assessment of these goals involved feedback from expert evaluators, such as Dr. Donna Stewart and Dr. Jay Howell. The equipping model was chosen to provide a lasting resource for training disciples. To accomplish this purpose, research was done in the field of disciple making. This research led to four primary disciple making skills; abiding faith, relational accountability, missional living, and intentional multiplication. From these skills, an eight-session curriculum was developed and implemented to train selected adults during a Friday night and Saturday\r\nmorning workshop.\r\n\r\nEvaluation for the project was accomplished through a pretest and posttest. Each participant took a test before the workshop began to assess their level of  understanding of disciple making. Once the curriculum was completed, the participants took the same test to determine what was learned. At the end of the workshop, each participant provided an evaluation of the workshop to determine the value of the training. The project consisted of four stages: (1) exploring the internal demographics, (2) exploring existing models, (3) creating a strategy, and (4) presenting a new strategy for implementation. In  the first stage, I explored the internal demographics of Derma Baptist Church to establish discipleship effectiveness. I explored, in the second stage, existing strategy models of discipleship to discover the best practices for development and implementation of a new strategy. Stage three consisted of development of  the various stages of the new strategy. In stage three, members of Derma Baptist Church were selected and trained using collected data to move toward the completed strategy. I selected and trained a strategy team in discipleship methods to aid in the process of crafting a discipleship strategy. The strategy was informed  by research of discipleship models, best practices gleaned from those models, and  an internal questionnaire to determine implementation needs within the church. Following the training and presentation of my research, the strategy team aided me in creating the strategy specific to the context of First Baptist. I, along with the strategy team, presented the strategy to three age-based committees for their approval. The people of God in the Old Testament kept God’s Word at the forefront of their minds and “taught God’s Word diligently” (Deut. 6:6-7). In the New Testament, the “people devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42). The project determined the best practices for organizational growth and equipped Sunday school leaders with growth skills. The project began with exploring the internal demographics of First Baptist Church Wiggins, Mississippi, to identify young adult members and their progress toward spiritual maturity. The next step explored existing strategies of young adult discipleship and identified best practices. The project utilized a strategic leadership team consisting of a broad group of church members to develop a young adult discipleship strategy for First Baptist Church, Wiggins, Mississippi. In the first phase of this project, I explored existing discipleship methods to determine best practices and conducted a church survey to reveal the spiritual health of FBC. A demographic study revealed the spiritual health of Neshoba County. Third, with the deacon’s approval, I selected a strategy team from the FBC membership and included the ministerial staff. The team and I used the summary of best practices, results from the spiritual survey of FBC, and the demographic study of Neshoba County to develop a strategy. The strategy team evaluated the accumulated methods of making disciples and created a discipleship strategy for FBC. Finally, the strategy team helped establish a course of action for presenting the discipleship strategy to the deacon body and congregation. I presented the strategy and implementation plan to the deacon body for feedback and approval. The deacons unanimously approved the discipleship strategy. I am in the process of preaching through the discipleship strategy in Sunday morning worship, and some of the members of  the strategy team have established pilot D-Groups. From this, along with other  church members, five pilot D-Groups have been meeting this fall.
