The purpose of the course is to provide a foundational missions course that will produce mission-minded pastors.  The course developed through the use of library research and unpublished materials, and in consultation with mission-minded church leaders, missionaries, Nigerians familar with ETSI, faculty colleagues at ETSI, the president of ECWA, and a Christian education expert with years of service in Nigeria. These churches, though apparently growing numerically, are spiritually stagnant and encountering crises, particularly with their young educated members.  Through interviews with the executive leaders of four of the largest of these churches in Nigeria, and a questionnaire survey of about ten large denominations, this writer has been able to document the problems facing their ministerial training. The result of the research has served as a basis for proposing certain criteria necessary to revamp their ministerial training.
