The section on divine revelation helped students grasp an evangelical view of general and special revelation.  The section of the course on hermeneutics aimed to enable students to utilize the historical-grammatical method of interpretation.  The application section put the previous material to work in assessing the basic claims of five groups: the Pentecostal-Charismatic movement, the New Age movement, Roman Catholicism, Islam, and humanism. This evaluation should come from knowledge of South African culture, the view of marriage presented by Scripture, and the experiences of women within polygamous marriages.  The author's interviews with women reveal a great deal of pain and anger over being in such marriages.
