Through multiple interviews at sites in Oregon and Washington, the author discovered that welcoming newcomers requires the church to adopt a missional mindset that serves the community. Congregants individually serve where the community sees a need and build relationships that provide a basis for introducing friends to Jesus. Demands of discipleship in Seventh-day Adventist congregations often cause Hawaiian converts to drop out rather than break their connections with family, culture, and lifestyle. Since the goal of evangelism is seen as making disciples, the strategy places heavy emphasis on assimilating new believers into the local church.  Ten New Testament principles of evangelism form the basis for evaluating the three case studies as well as providing the theological orientation for the strategy.  The three-step strategy takes a chronological approach to the task of local church evangelism. Theologically supported, the model used education, communication, and social psychology disciplines. Classes, discussions, and social activities over five months formed the model. Caucasian church members, ethnic adherents, and unchurched ethnics of the local community participated.  It was effective for increasing ethnic growth in the church. Increased cultural knowledge and understanding motivated Caucas to ethnic outreach.  It is an innovative, pragmatic model for indirectly evangelizing a culturally diverse
