Simultaneously, there is a great call for a new model of church ministry and urban missions. It is an absolute obscurity to think migrants are living in a vacuum, isolated and without having any attachment in the places of their settlements. Some research projects that focused on migrant communities in the past took ethnic group as a unit of analysis; some migrant church leaders also ignore the fact that the basic principle of Christianity prioritizes our identity in Christ over any ethnic distinctiveness. Contrary to the previous approaches this study inquired the non-ethnic interaction of a migrant community.As much as there are numerous causes that drive people away from their homelands, a number of drawing reasons to settle to their new places. Similarly, alterity and prejudice on one side and the ‘search for national identity’ on the other are ‘push-pull factors’ in shifting Christian migrants from the mainstream churches to the establishment migrant churches. The question which is often asked, ‘‘why so many African Christians broke their ties with traditional missionary societies and joined the newly emerging churches?’’ remained to be a subject for discussion. Migration should not be seen as a negative social scenario but it is an opportunity to enrich diversity both in a social and in the body of Christ. This decline has caused many pastors to be concerned about their ability to survive. As a consequence, churches have focused on survival tactics which result in an inward focused church in order to safeguard their limited resources. This inward focus minimizes missional ministry and ignores the pain and brokenness of people in the community that surrounds the church. This issue is particularly impactful in the urban context, where social challenges are prevalent and evidenced by the visible amount of homelessness, hunger, and poverty in the community. This thesis investigates the utilization of preaching stewardship to encourage growth in missional outreach in a small urban church. The preacher must be intentional about developing and delivering sermons that demonstrate the symmetry between stewardship and outreach ministry. Through multiple interviews at sites in Oregon and Washington, the author discovered that welcoming newcomers requires the church to adopt a missional mindset that serves the community. Congregants individually serve where the community sees a need and build relationships that provide a basis for introducing friends to Jesus. When I first arrived, the church was closed and set to be demolished.  By inspiring the remaining congregation, and empowering them using the principles espoused by the Second Vatican Council of reversing the hierarchy of the clergy and by following Jackson W. Carroll's model of how to exercise authority, they performed outreach in the surrounding community, extending an invitation to non-affiliated Catholics to attend Saint Peter's, and by listening to the spiritual needs of the people. The result was the expansion of the church to the point that it was possible to reopen the church building. The case studies used are from the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts, but the findings apply to the whole Christian community. I understand that the intent of God since creation was for humanity to be diverse and to live together in harmony. Using my experiences as Area Minister, I explore some of the major barriers we need to overcome in order to create multicultural churches. The availability of guns, fueled by an ethos that it is an American right to bear arms, makes the land fertile for carnage of all sorts.  The African American community is the one community that seems to have more of its share of deaths by homicide.  The African American male is the one group that suffers from homicide in a staggering rate.  He is more likely to die from homicide between the ages of 15 and 44 than any other American group. Seventy-five people from three San Francisco locations were questioned at the end of open-air meetings as to: personal criteria; things important to them and problems; 'what do you think of' section regarding words as love, God, sin.  The results indicated that each group of people had similar needs and thoughts, which were different for each site.
