The HMong became the CIA's secret army fighting against the Communist forces.  By the late 1960's, as the war in Laos intensified, the HMong were doing the majority of America's fighting, and dying, there.  In May 1975, after the fall of Laos, tens of thousands of HMong escaped to Thailand.  As an autobiographical study, the project thesis serves as a historical study of the HMong people. In response to the problem the researcher studied themes of leadership in the Scripture and in relevant contemporary literature.  He then investigfated these themes in operation by interviewing twelve present or former ministry leaders and the leadership boards at five large Hmong churches in the United States.  From this study the researcher identified seven factiors associated with effective leadership among the Hmong church. The equipping model was utilized in this project. The project began with the project director's research on the biblical doctrines and concluded with the equipping of the select group of believers. The research included demographic data specific to the Hmong people community in northeast Georgia, USA, and personal evangelism strategies available to train Christians locally and nationally. Ministry with Hmong by forty-one churches in central California and Twin Cities, Minnesota are analyzed.  The Hmong language questionnaire reveals Hmong church leaders' preference for gradual acculturaltion, compared with English language questionnaires expecting rapid assimilation/integration/adaptation.  The author documents the effects of forty centuries of forced migration and dislocation and resettlement of the Hmong, and argues for acculturation of Hmong by multi-lingual, transcultural congregations.
