Latino college-educated young professionals, a community that has been ignored, form an ideal demographic to benefit from, and bring value to, an online community. Facebook was chosen as the medium by which to reach the Latino young adults and to provide a venue for preaching within a community. The research addresses the design, creation, and feedback of the participants. The pilot demonstrated that a format of a preaching retreat day, formation period, and preaching retreat day was able to perpetuate participation but not facilitation. A survey was devised to ascertain the qualities and traits required by those who invite deacons to preach to their Sunday Assemblies. The survey was mailed to the target population and the results tabulated. The results were then integrated into a suggested curriculum modification for Catholic Universities offering masters degrees as part of diaconal formation. The form and function of lament allows for a funeral homiletic that, by respecting human grief and echoing the structure of rites of passage, decreases such a risk. The author tested this approach with a cohort of twelve Catholic pastoral ministers, lay and ordained.
