The field for this discipleship is the literary structure of the gospel of Matthew.  The participants were five disciple-makers within the Trinity United Methodist Church of Gibsonburg, Ohio. The Ignatian method was used as a means to structure the program.  Holy Land imagery was also employed.  This research is an evaluation study in the descriptive mode utilizing researcher-designed interview questions to track participant life change. A follow-up manual was given to half of the 26 new members of the church to use for a period of four months.  The treatment and control groups were administered pre- and post-test surveys and results were compared. This study determined the effect of designing an intentional process using a team approach of pastor and thirty leaders.  The study made use fo the sport of whitewhater rafting as an image for discipleship development. In this metaphor the church is an outfitter, providing the necessary resources and training for equipping disciples.
