The training of the 14 pastors took place in Nairobi, Kenya, in September 2002. The group had one year to put the principles learnt into practice. The class met twice after the one-year period to reevaluate the ten principles they had previously learnt. The project proved that it was possible to plant churches using the ten leadership principles gathered from Paul's speech at Miletus. 5 new churches were planted and the other 9 that had existed before this project began grew by 33% to 185%. In the churches where the founding pastor provided long-term leadership, more consistent growth occurred.  The difficult issues faced by the founding pastors were also evaluated in this study along with strategies designed to help navigate these challenges. The research consisted of interviews with sixteen church planters who had been mentored and had planted at least one reproducing church.  The findings revealed that subjects viewed their mentoring relationships as a key component in their preparation for church planting and an important factor in their decision to plant a reproducing church. Two years and nine months after the first public worship service, a researcher-designed questionnaire was mailed to all ninety-eight members of the church, and a random sample of twenty-five members was selected for interviews. The major findings included:  1) spiritual gift discovery establishes a necessary theological foundation and increases involvement in ministry; 2) evangelism is an agenda that increases involvement in ministry; 3) the pastor's role as equipper empowers involvement in ministry; 4) small groups provide an arena that increases involvement in ministry; 5) vision casting communicates God's vision that motivates involvement in ministry; 6) investing in people through training produces involvement in ministry; 7) need-based ministries inspire involvement in ministry; and, 8) a commitment to membership increases involvement in ministry.  Clear evidence emerged in the study that indicated the implementation of the eight principles resulted in a church membership actively involved in ministry.
