The fruit of the project was ultimately to help people encounter the living God in Christ as trained intercessors came alongside them in prayer. This evaluative study in the descriptive mode used a researcher-designed instrument for training fifteen participants. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, weekly feedback forms, and a congregational survey. The participants were given the eight-week class and evaluated by a pretest and posttest of the Spiritual Well-Being Scale, pretest and posttest interviews, and field research notes. Proposed strategies were recommended.  Personal interviews were employed.  The findings of the study showed that, in various degrees, all the participants of short-term missions continued to intercede for missions. The major presupposition is that prayer expresses a growing relationship with God.  During the months of August through December 2000, I interviewed thirty United Methodist pastors in the Greater Orlando area. As people outwardly respond to the grace of God in a worship service, they meet God in a profound and transformational way, more deeply than they would if they had only responded inwardly. The project initiated an invitational ministry time during Sunday morning worship of Memorial United Methodist Church and Patton United Methodist Church in Franklin, North Carolina. The project develops a ministry team manual based on a Vineyard-style prayer method and trains members to participate in this invitational prayer ministry. During the four Sundays of Advent, 1996, 201 persons responded to this ministry. They report finding love, peace, comfort, joy, and encouragement in the ministry time experience. The prayer styles reflected the functions of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.  In 73 percent of the cases, participants found a prayer style they preferred.  Levels of comfort, a sense of God's presence, and the style's similarity to prayer patterns utilized prior to the study were the strongest determinants of preference.  The author concludes that teaching people a variety of prayer styles is beneficial to spiritual growth. A sample 120 members of Murray Hill participated in a host of prayer initiatives to deepen the life of prayer within the ongoing life of the church.  Metanoia then examined fifteen heart attitudes that grow out of the life of prayer as related to church health.
