East Ohio Conference","Christianity","Conversion","Experience (Religion)","Clergy--Appointment, call, and election"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to discover the extent to which the interview process of District Committees on Ordained Ministry (dCOMs) in the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church integrates historical Wesleyan marks of Christian character in the assessment of ministry candidates. The project design was to distribute an online survey to all East Ohio Conference dCOM members in February 2015. The design of this study was a phenomenological mixed methods approach. It was determined from the research data that the essence of a call to ministry is a personal and supernatural encounter with the Holy that results in the authorization of, commitment to, and empowerment for a divine commission. The specific focus of this project is to identify ten essentials that will provide information and guidelines that could help women move through the process. Using randomly sent surveys to pastors, I sought to elicit their experience of a discernment process.  The survey results showed that 60% did not receive any help in discerning God's calling to pastoral leadership.
