A five-point Likert scale questionnaire was distributed to 188 people, then collected, collated and analyzed. The resource was evaluated by advisers in the Doctor of Ministry program. Data was collected by researching biblical, historical, theological, and secular literature on discipleship and mentorship. A quantitative and a qualitative study showed a definite correlation exists between perceived effectiveness of the curriculum and the students' perceptions of their teachers' performances. A pretest and posttest were used to determine the knowledge and practice of different types of prayer, the knowledge and experience of the work of the Holy Spirit and the commitment to self-care.  Results show that students gained in their knowledge and understanding of formational prayer and made a better commitment to self-care. A post-test helped determine participant experiences and the impact of course components on participant healing.  Results show that all students had beneficial experiences; greatest healing occurred in participants' ability to trust God, embrace truth and forgive. Less than fifty percent had negative experiences; most negative experiences involved group conflict. The Introduction to Discipleship was offered during the first semester and focused on biblical foundations, theory and practice, and participation in a discipling relationship.  During the second semester students were invited into a discipling relationship with the instructor.  Students were surveyed at the beginning of the year regarding their assurance of salvation, commitment to ministry, knowledge, commitment, and overall confidence to discipleship in ministry.
