Twenty participants were evaluated by pre-tests, post-tests, follow-up tests, and my personal interviews. A series of three workshops was presented at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Shelby, Ohio, with the belief that Christian principles of grief assist the griever in the process of mourning.  The author proposed that a relationship to Jesus with both personal and communal aspects will help in the overwhelming task of grief.  By pre and post testing the author measures a baseline of both help received and the knowledge gained about the healthy Christian grief process. Instruction, small group experience, prayer and individual counseling was provided for the adults who lived at the shelter as well as the volunteers who served them there.  An aspect of each class included childhood development theories that were explained and which linked the spiritual journey of the adult to that of the child. Information on the spiritual, emotional and physiological development was presented in a variety of ways so the participants could begin to evaluate their current relationships with God, self and others in light of their experiences in the earliest stages of childhood. They also practiced new relational skills, ones compromised due to early childhood neglect and/or abuse. A new mentoring project has been established to meet the indispensable supportive needs of children whose parents are incarcerated. A pretest and posttest were used to determine the knowledge and practice of different types of prayer, the knowledge and experience of the work of the Holy Spirit and the commitment to self-care.  Results show that students gained in their knowledge and understanding of formational prayer and made a better commitment to self-care. The paradigm of the model was an integrated approach that emphasized process and transformation discipleship.  I interviewed individual participants, designed a curriculum that mirrored the issues presented in Wardle's book Outrageous love transforming power (2003), directed small group meetings, and administered a follow-up questionnaire. This model was laid out in a manual.  A panel of experts who were members of the court system as well as pastors of local churches evaluated the effectiveness of this manual. This was accomplished by the use of qualitative and quantitative methods.  Small group participants determined that they had experienced 'bounded set' behavior at this church.  A significant relationship was found between their desire for peer approval and authority figure approval, and their tendency to conform to small group and congregational norms.
