A qualitative study was conducted using grounded theory. Interviews with church planting experts, church planters, and an online survey were the primary data sources. The online survey helped triangulate the data and provided a quantitative element to the research. This research found that relational connectedness was critical to people hearing, connecting, and staying in a new church. The following themes are discovered in the biblical and literature reviews: 'God's care and compassion,' 'finishing the race well,' 'betterment to development,' 'economic decision making,' and 'finding purpose.' The conclusion of this project leads to the development of two primary initiatives to recruit future retirees to consider missions.
