The ministry of consolation is stressed as a way of connecting ritual and pastoral care.  Highlighted is the intersection of theology and psychology in parish bereavement and catechesis. Theological reflections are provided for a theology of a bereavement.  A liturgy preparation guide and a parish support group are outlined.  Conclusions from pastoral interviews and presentations are cited. The project situates campus ministry in the current debate over the improvement of higher education. It draws on contemporary theology and the Roman Catholic Bishop's Pastoral Letter that calls for 'a new phase' in campus ministry.  Part two defines campus ministry with a faith stance and with a mission to care for the academic world.  It devotes one chapter to liturgy as pastoral care. Part three examines the context of ministry, especially ministry to commuters, in Manchester, New Hampshire. Part four evaluates campus ministry at St Ann Parish and Student Center, Boston, Massachusetts and at the Newman Center in Newark, New Jersey. This project report offers: a theological and developmental context for ministry with and by youth; a weekend training model for enabling peer ministry; short and long term evaluations of the model's effectiveness; and, finally, suggestions for expanding and improving the proffered model. Methodology included the use of self report statements and tests (Marital Communication and Support Systems Inventories).
