It focuses intentionally on Centre Church in Malden, a dowtown parish that is declining.  At Centre new groups have been formed with special emphasis on the neighborhood cells and the home Bible study cells.  Through these groups the fellowship is being renewed, the laity involved and the outreach mission of the church extended.  The pastor's role is--visionary, inspirer, equipper, encourager and exemplar. The project was designed as a qualitative study.  The methodology was that of the participant-observer.  Through the use of disciplined attention to and comparison of settings, persons, actions, events, words and interview material four factors were found to give work satisfaction: dominion, sharing, freedom and vision.
