Intended as an introduction to psalmody for those with little background, it contains musical settings for 28 psalms.  Each psalm is introduced by brief commentary regarding its formal structure and theological implications. The study discusses the traditional Chinese family-orientation and its continued influence in the values, attitudes and behavior of the English-educated, urban middle-class Singapore Chinese.  The introduction of Western cultural norms through the process of modernization was readily accepted as a basis for marriage and family life.  However, the continued influence of the traditional family-orientation was to be a significant cause of dysfunctional marriages among these couples. An analysis of public relations in its secular context provides an understanding of the content and history of this art. Writings on the black church provide insight into the historic roles of black preachers in public relations.  Contemporary public relations materials were gathered through questionnaires and personal interviews with churches and pastors.  The black pastor is pinnacle in the operation of the church through analyzing and sharing feedback. Hymnody is used paradigmatically to demonstrate that worship and church administration are integrally related. The root meaning of 'liturgy' etymologically illustrates this point: leitourgia means 'the work of the people'. This paper suggests the thesis that worship and ministry are activities of all Christians (both clergy and laity). Church administration is the framework for effective ministry. Work with the parish's Christian Service Task Force prompted research leading to the use of a pastoral letter by Bishop Howard Hubbard, and to Robert Greenleaf's Servant leadership. A synthesis of these sources produced a role description of the parish priest as that of affirming, coordinating and facilitating the lay ministry by fulfilling a 'first among equals' role in the context of the parish council. The project was developed to meet a perceived curricular void within the religion department on a campus where little or no attention is paid to women's studies.  The course was intentionally team taught by a male and a female. A questionnaire was sent to United Methodist chaplains who had retired between the years 1975-1980 with a high level of response.  The instrument sought information about the past life pattern of the respondent and whether the person desired to return to ministry and was successful. Questions were raised concerning difficulties experienced in placement and in the role the Commission of Chaplains and Related Ministries of the UMC played in the process.
