The chaplains experience a sense of frustration when church structures are not responsive to their desire to maintain active involvement. Data was gained from on-site visits to over twenty ministries in recreational areas from Maine to California. These ministries were then presented according to their primary goals: worship, evangelism, counseling, and social action. A discussion of evangelistic strategies in recreational areas recommends the use of friendship, proclamation, and contact evangelism. Findings from on-site visits and research into evangelistic strategies are joined together in plans for establishing an evangelistic ministry among recreational areas in Maine. Possibilities are analyzed for outdoor worship services in campgrounds and on ski slopes, summer and winter evangelism projects, campground and ski chaplaincies, and evangelistic ski retreats."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Boston University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["2d58bd09-76d0-4970-b257-d55229e0173e"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718063271051264,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:28:13.714Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:51:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:29:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"42483166-0915-4bf1-aa18-f6627f0587af","accessControl_ssim":["7d123caa-3a72-4243-91f0-ab623cfe0ca0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An assessment of the needs of pastors and spouses in the Church of the Nazarene"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:51:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:03:12Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6c5858c8-d5ac-4658-a980-8b5660564445"],"hasLease_ssim":["d7f88a00-8669-41f5-9c5c-b76e20ebb00e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Merle R Jordan"],"year_tesim":["1985"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David S Wayman"],"keyword_tesim":["Tests and measurements in religion"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Mental health","Pastoral psychology","Church of the Nazarene","Psychometrics"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Using two instruments developed for this project, 1,085 pastors and spouses located in the states of Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, and the pastors in the state of Florida, were tested for their emotional and counseling needs to substantiate a new resource of assistance for their families, a telecommunication with support personnel. Increased awareness of alcohol problems, a desire to participate in alcohol education, and plans for a year-round program indicate the model can be productive."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Boston University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["2d58bd09-76d0-4970-b257-d55229e0173e"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715145711091712,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:41:51.312Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:41:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:29:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3d09f1a4-13ac-4910-82db-9ddb635e3202","accessControl_ssim":["94df6fc4-569a-49ed-833b-7e9d33e1f83a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The contribution of the computer to the management of the large church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:41:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:53:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a1a0812c-e2c8-4f4e-9362-9e584763fe17"],"hasLease_ssim":["226abf06-43b9-4fed-89be-ff2e928ac304"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["William E Zimpfer"],"year_tesim":["1985"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Floyd R Stradley"],"keyword_tesim":["Computers in churches"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["First United Methodist Church (Champaign, Ill)","Electronic data processing","Church management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project explores the contribution which the computer can make in managing information, thus helping the church to be more effective in its ministry to people. A woman enters religious life with an identity, images and styles of communicating closeness or distance that were learned and internalized within the family of origin. These become conscious or unconsious means of identifying herself and her role as a religious and of relating intimately with others in a communal setting. As these realities were the basis for imaging God when she was a child, they remain influential foundations for communicating with God as an adult religious woman."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Boston University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["2d58bd09-76d0-4970-b257-d55229e0173e"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715244490096640,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:43:25.515Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:40:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:58:15Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9592715b-f6cd-4c41-81cd-ee7c069b4773","accessControl_ssim":["5085c2e6-8b38-46aa-91fc-917c253be27e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A program of grief therapy within an Orthodox Jewish synagogue"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:40:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:30:39Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["49ecfcaf-fda5-46d4-b061-828881da5139"],"hasLease_ssim":["d55cbbb6-5ddb-49c8-8024-29c07981382d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Homer L Jernigan"],"year_tesim":["1985"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stuart Grant"],"keyword_tesim":["Grief customs, Jewish"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Bereavement","Pastoral counseling","Congregation Rodphey Shalom (Holyoke, Mass)","Pastoral psychology","Death--Religious aspects--Judaism","Grief"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Though much has been written about Jewish mourning rituals, no one has yet developed an organized, conscious program of grief therapy based on these practices.
