The new 'United Methodist Hymnal: Book of United Methodist Worship' contains services or word and table that allow for the celebrant to create varieties in the prayer.  This project contains 26 eucharistic prayers based on the Common Lectionary rather than the season.  The project also examines the history of the prayer, Wesley's approach to the sacrament, and how the 1988 United Methodist liturgy developed. The second chapter puts the approaches and attitudes towards sheltering the homeless into a sociological framework. Chapter three presents data regarding the Tent City demonstration during which homeless people participated in June, 1985, on the Boston Common, which resulted in the program, Family House Project. Chapter four presents the data on Family House Project which set as its main principle the belief that the homeless people could and should have greater control over their lives. Finally, chapter five seeks to analyze Family House Project in terms of two themes: empowerment and community. The autobiographical and reflective data which has been shared by the participants has been organized around and is used to illustrate three significant thematic expressions of the nature and effect of those factors. Feelings, activities, and reasons for retirement were considered and included: anticipation of freedom from the schedule of meetings and other time-intensive demands; expectations to continue their calling as ministers in some way; and satisfaction in retirement related to collegiality if practiced in active ministry.  The author suggests that all levels of church governing bodies reconsider their policies and programs for the retirement of ministers. The author presented the decision making process found in Acts 15, Presbyterian polity, management principles, and systems theory to two church sessions.  Participants shared mind style preferences, analyzed decisions theologically and rationally, and explored systems issues.  The separation of process from content helped clarify leadership dynamics. Shared process produced solid, satisfying decisions. Pastors cited improved communication and coordination. Statistical analysis indicated preference for participatory style. One way to respond to these changes would be for local churches to support chaplaincy services in hospitals and institutions.  Using a survey of local clergy and church members, this project assesses the perceived need for, value of, and role expectations of hospital chaplains at the Malden Hospital, Malden, Massachusetts, and the willingness of local churches to support chaplaincy services. Questionnaires and personal interviews provide basic information. The results indicate the necessary ingredients of effective shared ministry. The author sees shared ministry as holding both the possibilities for exceptional service and demoralized apathy among pastors.  He exposes the ideals of the call to ministry, the ministry of all Christians, collegiality and the recognition of personality traits and leadership styles. Working agreements are seen as a necessity in this process.
