These include: the directive style of the Word where the primary resource person is Eduard Thurneysen; the nondirective style of acceptance and relationship where the primary resource person is Carl Rogers; and the hermeneutical/narrative style where the primary resource persons are Donald Capps, Charles Gerkin, and Charles Winquist.  Six case studies are represented in which the hermeneutical/narrative style is put into practice.  The pastoral method in each case study is evaluated. Case studies and verbatims supplemented class presentations. The ten participants prepared additional studies from visits to inactive and prospective members, shut-ins and persons in crisis and grief.  Pre- and post-event instruments and interviews supplemented the evaluation data. Significant changes in the understanding and practice of caregiving as ministry were noted.
