The project enlists 12 members, from varied backgrounds, of Faith United Methodist Church in Indian Trail, North Carolina, to participate in eight study sessions exploring the ecclesiological purposes for which the church exists, the culture and needs of the community, and the missionary and evangelistic action required from the church. The project produces a foundational document that may serve as a guide to new church development in western North Carolina. The program stressed the personal-relational nature of the Gospel.  It focused on aiding and equipping members in a new church development to live out their Christian faith in authentic and meaningful ways as individuals and as members of a community.  The project implemented in the Mountain View United Methodist Church in the Fall of 1987.  It organized persons into small groups for study, sharing and reflection.  During the ten week implementation period of the project, participants met to study prepared materials.
