The degree to which candidates felt respected in the entrance process had a direct correlation with their anticipated levels of commitment to the organization (slope .71) and to the personal value they attached to the accomplishment (slope .48).  The last group entering as members was compared with the first group containing those entering as member associates.  Three-fourths of those who could chose the permanent category. When the survivor fails to attend to his sexual needs and desires, he experiences this as wounding and defends against the fragmentation of his masculine self by activating his 'masculine defense,' a masculinized narcissistic defensive structure.  Empathic attunement is provided and the wounds experienced and defenses activated in relation to the survivor are interpreted in the context of the partners' own history of trauma. The study focuses on four cases where men were in therapy with the author and reports the progress of these men by their own report. Two discussion groups (those active in the congregation) consisting of two each of the four function pairs were selected.  The sermon was preached and discussed at midweek, rewritten, preached during Sunday worship and then discussed with the second group.
