The author's congregation is the setting for a case study in which a Christian community's encounter with non-Christian religious perspectives prompts commonly recognized paradigms of response (exclusivism, inclusivism, and pluralism) to other religious faiths as ways of salvation. The study proposes that persons will evidence preference for the attitude of religious pluralism. She presents herself as in desperate need of affirmation. The woman feels that she is not in control of her life and is a failure in both her profession and her marriage. The author uses object relations mode of therapy to treat the woman. He integrates this approach with theological aspects which are suggested by Paul Tillich's writings. The basic purpose was to aid United Methodists in the appropriation of their catholic heritage through an actual study of the pertinent eucharistic writings of the two Wesleys. The largest part of the dissertation deals with the following eucharistic motifs found in the Wesleyan literature: constant communion, real presence, sacrifice and medicine of immortality. Attention is also given to Wesley's 1784 Sunday Service, Methodism's Anglican roots and the progress of liturgical renewal in the United Methodist Church. The project concludes that an exposure to the writings and sacramental practices of the Wesleys increases the desire for more frequent celebrations of the eucharist."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["795851c5-e081-4353-9c00-2c554dd1d015"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134937157468160,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:43:06.785Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:36:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:47:07Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"aa32e3a2-7b01-4c2a-a14a-7493df2f3c48","accessControl_ssim":["ed31900d-e65e-4d72-9fcc-213e3bf45210"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["God object relations: development in drug and alcohol addicted adolescents"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:36:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:03:18Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4fab7d35-16ff-49a4-82f8-453dec170b20"],"hasLease_ssim":["011f301a-985c-45cd-98a7-edcfc92a09ab"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Brynolf Lyon"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William J Weber"],"publisher_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Alcohol","Tillich, Paul, 1886-1965","Church work with youth","Parent and child--Religious aspects--Christianity","Alcoholism","Image of God","Drug abuse"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The study investigated the formation of the God concept in drug and alcohol addicted adolescents.
