Research in current literature and pastoral experience inform an understanding of the special characteristics of Taiwanese immigrants that underlies the project's analytic survey of Taiwanese American churches in Southern California. The project demonstrates a 3-step process for training teachers to deal with three Bible passages: 1)interpret the text by analyzing literary characteristics and its literary and historical contexts; 2) explore the goal of Christian education and the learners' life experience, establishing a process for applying the biblical message accordingly; 3) teaching the Bible lesson by examining theories of learning, principles and methods of teaching, and designing a teaching/learning process compatible with literary genres and goals of Christian education. This project designed sample lesson plans relevant to the experience of Chinese Americans for three genres: Narrative, Wisdom, and Prophetic.
