This project seeks to fill this void, utilizing the biblical genre of lament, the book of Lamentations, and the scholarship of Kathleen M. O'Connor to establish a theological framework for understanding autistic individuals and those who love and care for them. This will shape the identity, mission, and life of the Christian congregations who do so. Through the use of an ethnographical approach, the project unearths the challenges of four families who are dealing the ASDs and posits that there are educational and faith based steps that Christian congregations can use to assist families similarly situated.
