This project asserts there is profound meaning in Jesus' summation of the law given in Mark 12:29-31.  Namely, the way in which one loves oneself is integrally related to the way in which one loves his/her neighbor and God. Mark"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes that story is the common element that underlies formation of a people's identity and its preservation through collective memory. Contemporary Christian loss of mythic, metaphorical thought patterns in favor of literal, rationalistic ways of thinking threatens the survival of the people of God and divests the Scriptures of their power to transform. The project uses secular story and biblical story in a 'sandwich' technique borrowed from the Gospel of Mark in order to restore an imaginative, metaphorical perspective to Christian consciousness so that biblical narrative can be reclaimed as story.
