This project focuses on executive coaching for pastors at risk of becoming 'stuck,' losing energy of momentum in congregational ministry. This report explores executive coaching theory, considering how working with a coach can help a pastor out of a rut and thus regain energy for ministry. It uses narrative methodology to describe the impact of coaching on two pastors in Hudson River Presbytery in order to show how coaching may benefit pastors in similar situations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128706805137408,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:04:05.058Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:35:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:48:22Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"212638b7-680a-4ed5-92c9-b6ea0f1593bb","accessControl_ssim":["700c6c8d-b4cf-493b-9449-1d04a02008af"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Training for transition and transformation: designing a new structure is only half the story"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:35:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:07:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9cfbb871-dd78-422e-8d85-6bd3942b0825"],"hasLease_ssim":["303d9bea-6054-4f94-9eb5-3ee39e2f3ba3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stephen Hayner"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Richard D Boyer"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Burn out (Psychology)","Church management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Prospect Presbyterian Church identified burnout and a lack of volunteers as a growing problem in the congregation. Weber's bureaucracy provides a lens to explore the congregation's current organizational self-understanding. Church members were interviewed before and after the training to assess shifts in their organizational self-understanding. Each church has been chartered and has developed strong programs and faithful worshipping communities. Yet the pastors of these new churches are showing signs of burnout, fatigue, and distorted understandings of their identity and call as servants of Jesus Christ. Utilizing qualitative research with six new church development pastors, this project explores how a Reformed understanding of Sabbath calls into question their theology, and their understanding of rest and time. The results show that a Reformed understanding and practice of Sabbath can be a critical factor in helping new church development pastors gain a sense of renewal for life and ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128981848719360,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:08:27.360Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:48:57Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:58:10Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5de5b722-ff33-4a4e-acf6-982af7cfcac2","accessControl_ssim":["20c4ec50-260f-4093-b355-b10c0e5d9d03"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Rest and renewal for the Pentecostal experiencing burnout"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:48:56Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:53:35Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c264a4c1-29a6-42cc-82e6-507395efc2cf"],"hasLease_ssim":["c6e00ae6-d07a-4db2-a46f-d2d295bf334c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Brian H Childs"],"year_tesim":["1996"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Billy D Bewley"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Burn out (Psychology)","Pentecostal churches--Clergy","Clergy--Mental health"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Burnout is experienced while one endeavors to fulfill the responsibilities of the biblical call to ministry and such can be ameliorated by rest and renewal.
