This paper is the report of a study using action research involving teenage members of a suburban Chicago church in a survey and small group reflections on their attitudes towards other faiths and their understanding of religious difference. The results show that tolerant views held by these young people owe more to secular expediency than religious commitment.  Beliefs are private and rarely shared, even among close friends. Using biblical and theological resources, as well as a diverse, five-person panel of Presbyterian Church (USA) clergy, this documents to determine the theology of non-Christian religions. This project examines interfaith pilgrimage as such a model of interfaith relationship building. This paper tells the story of an interfaith pilgrimage between a pastor and his people that transformed them all. It offers guidance and a model of how churches can be part of the solution, instead of the problem, in interfaith relations.
