This project was conducted through an anonymous, online questionnaire and in-depth interviews with self-selected students. The project is based on interviews of seventeen college students by a college chaplain at a Presbyterian, liberal arts college. This study describes the reactions of Christian students from Trinity University to the faith and practice of those whom they meet while studying abroad. After reviewing an alternative model of Christian missionary, the critical distinction between missions and missio Dei, and cross-cultural diffusion of Christianity, themes drawn from interviews with students are presented, as well as student perceptions of the impact of studying abroad on their faith. Despite being in the middle of a college campus for over one hundred years, there is no organized ministry between Banner Elk Presbyterian Church and the students of Lees-McRae College.  Through a survey and conversations with students regarding their spiritual needs, Banner Elk Presbyterian Church set out to redefine its presence on the campus Lees-McRae College. This project assumes that the mission of the church is to witness God's love to people in ways that are appropriate to their stage and condition of life.  The research for this study uses the grounded theory method of research.  Sixty students on campuses near Charlotte, North Carolina were interviewed.  Conclusions from the research include specific suggestions for people who minister to students during the college years. It is an art which is developed through relationships and experiences.  This study challenges methods of decision-making which offer authoritarian attachment and deny one's personal responsibility.  The suggested alternative is an approach to decision-making based on an interpretation of the will of God which focuses on being over doing.  This study is particularly aimed at helping Christian college students to become more mature decision makers.
