This exploratory study utilized qualitative and quantitative measures to examine perceptions and evaluations of faith formation curriculum. Identical pre- and post-study surveys using the Lijert scale were distributed to accurately trace parental perceptions regarding explicit growth during the use of the new curriculum. In recent years, Lutheran schools have been faced with a variety of uncertainties and trends which highlight a crisis of identity and purpose, and call for a shift from the historic 'parochial' to a 'missional' paradigm. Missional leadership is a critical factor in developing a missional paradigm fro Lutheran schools. The third article framework was used to clarify a genuinely Lutheran understanding of mission amid postmodern times, wherein Gospel proclamation and vocation were identified as integral to that mission. The author studies this in the local congregation by examining the implementation of a third article shaped congregational strategic plan (mission, vision, and strategy) and its impact on the formal organization and leadership structure of a congregation.
